Thoughts for a new site about Georgetown…

July 4th, 2009

Well, the transition to this new site has been delayed due to laziness, mostly. I don’t think anyone is even reading this site, but writing helps you (me) think…

I’ve been considering making a photo diary type of website about Georgetown, with weekly commentary about some different area of Georgetown, well-accompanied by photos. It’ll force me to go and see more of the area and highlight the good and the bad (I searched the web and didn’t find any real sites of this type about Georgetown).

Also, it’s interesting to see how the area changes over time. For example, to get a good snapshot of that industrial area over by the GO station before it is rejuvenated. There is a lot of nice stuff to see in this town, but also a few odd and confusing things (most of the latter are new things).

I have some other ideas about what it could include.

Georgetown Online has something congruent to this, but there’s not much commentary or context there. The photos are important, but so is the story.

If I do it, I will try not to go in the direction of Kunstler’s Eyesore of the Month.

Well, just a thought…

Hello world!

June 19th, 2009

This will be my new blog.

I’ve made almost 1000 posts to my Blogger blog over at http://mattbg.blogspot.com and have just about reached the fag-end of what I want to do there.

Here’s the plan:

  1. import good posts from Blogger
  2. leave bad posts behind on Blogger
  3. delete Blogger blog

Sounds like a plan!
